Research projects
Our GREEN doctoral researchers are undertaking a fascinating and varied four-year training programme.
The 12-week taught programme is intense and well-designed, which is a good thing for me because it is quite efficient to obtain nuclear knowledge in different subjects. The cohort is great; people are friendly and supportive.
Yuxin Yao / Nuclear CDT student
The first year of this research programme aims to give you a broad knowledge of the nuclear fuel cycle, through week-long intensive modular teaching blocks. You will also attend industrial site visits and undertake training in transferable skills.
Between the second and fourth years, you will complete your PhD project. The CDT provides the opportunity and funding for students to undertake part of this research project in industry or other institutions, in the UK or overseas.
Many projects will be interdisciplinary, with co-supervision by academics within Lancaster, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield and industry, meaning you’ll be provided with access to exceptional facilities.
